
Ian Ogle, a family man, partner of Vera and daddy to daughter Toni and son Ryan, was brutally murdered just yards from his family home at Cluan Place, East Belfast on the night of 27th January 2019 at 21:30pm. He was was stabbed eleven times by a group of men. Ian, a 45-year-old community worker died shortly after the attack which happened as he prayed with a local pastor on a street.
Ian, affectionatly known as "Big O", was well known in the area and had acted as a spokesperson for the loyalist community living at the Cluan Place interface. He was also involved in negotiations around his much loved bonfire in the area and was a member of the Ulster People’s Forum, a group set up during the 2012 loyalist flag protests. A man who lived for his community.
Ian's family are pleading for answers and justice for him, but no revenge.
Although five people were involved in the horrific attack on the dad-of-two, only one man has been charged with his murder. Johnny Brown (33) was remanded in custody two weeks ago after returning to Northern Ireland from Thailand, which he had flown out to the day after the killing. A total of thirteen people have been arrested - 11 men and two women - who have all since been released.
