About Ian

Ian Ogle, a family man, partner of Vera and daddy to daughter Toni and son Ryan, was brutally murdered just yards from his family home at Cluan Place, East Belfast on the night of 27th January 2019 at 21:30pm. He was was stabbed eleven times by a group of men. Ian, a 45-year-old community worker died shortly after the attack which happened as he prayed with a local pastor on a street.

Ian, affectionatly known as "Big O", was well known in the area and had acted as a spokesperson for the loyalist community living at the Cluan Place interface. He was also involved in negotiations around his much loved bonfire in the area and was a member of the Ulster People’s Forum, a group set up during the 2012 loyalist flag protests. A man who lived for his community.

Ian's family are pleading for answers and justice for him, but no revenge.

Although five people were involved in the horrific attack on the dad-of-two, only one man has been charged with his murder. Johnny Brown (33) was remanded in custody two weeks ago after returning to Northern Ireland from Thailand, which he had flown out to the day after the killing. A total of thirteen people have been arrested - 11 men and two women - who have all since been released.

All we ask for is Justice. Can you help?

"To the men who teared my family's life apart - you've taken away my daddy. I was a daddy's girl through and through. You've taken away my brother's first and last best mate. You've taken away my mummys first and last love. You've taken away my nanny and grandas 2nd born son. You've deprived me of a father who was due to give me away at my wedding and if me and Ryan go on to have children you have deprived them of a grandfather. I wonder how you can actually live with yourselves? Or maybe you don't even care because you are all able to still give your children a hug and a kiss. Although I wonder if you even care about your own children at all because it will be them who grow up to learn that their daddies are stone cold evil murderers. It will be them who learn that their own flesh and blood took somebody elses daddy away from them."
